Open doors day: major interest about tram and bus depots
An absolute majority, 60%, would like to see what tram and bus depots look like, but 23% would like to try themselves in the roles of "Rīgas satiksme" workers.
10% of respondents would like to learn more about the history of transport in Riga, but 8% would like to get more information more about day-to-day operations of the company, which passes unnoticed for passengers. More than 600 "Rīgas satiksme" website visitors participated in the opinion poll which was held in April 2013.
It should be reminded that given people’s interest for the public transport, its preparation for everyday service and maintenance, in February "Rīgas satiksme" launched a new project – the Open doors day, offering everybody to visit a tram or bus depot once a month. The goal of the project is to show how much work is being done to provide public transport services, and that the company employs representatives of many different professions who work honestly and responsibly.
Open doors days are held once a month, on the second Wednesday of every month. As part of Open doors days, visitors accompanied by a specialist of "Rīgas satiksme" will be shown around tram depot No. 5 (at Brīvības Street 191) or bus depot No. 7 (Vestienas Street 35). They will be also familiarised with the history and day-to-day operations of "Rīgas satiksme". Such visits will be free of charge.
